Our Philosophy

We believe in a great travel experience and sustainability.

Surfing Turtle Lodge is an off-the-grid, hidden and remote beachfront eco-friendly hostel located on a deserted stretch of beach in Nicaragua's Pacific coast. Guests must cross a river by boat and either walk or be picked up by horse carriage to travel the 900m distance to reach us. The Lodge attracts travellers who are in search for an adventure and experience a once in a lifetime vacation. We have an onsite sea turtle hatchery and saved countless baby sea turtles. Also, the Lodge is fully powered by solar energy. It strikes the perfect balance between a relaxed surrounding and a lively atmosphere with all sorts of amenities, which lets everyone experience Central America's natural beauty.

Rooms

We give great attention to having something for everyone while maintaining a high quality of rooms. Our hostel accommodations include beachfront cabins, private rooms, dorms and huts.

Turtle Hatchery

The Lodge has built a hatchery right on the beach to help protect endangered sea turtles. When the turtles hatch, we release them with the help of our guests.

Restaurant & Bar

Our restaurant provides a varied menu with dishes ranging from Nicaraguan, Peruvian and western fares. Also, our fully stocked bar serves a variety of mixed drinks, various liquors, ice cold beer and more.

Solar Power

We are entirely powered by solar panels and completely off the grid. We maintain all lights, wifi, fridges, electrical outlets, fans and more with the beautiful power of the sun.

Activities

At the hostel we have a wide variety of activities for our guests that include surf lessons, horseback riding, beach volleyball, and more.

Events

We host a range of different events at Surfing Turtle. Staff organize nightly games or activities and on special occasions we put together a variety of musical artists.

Organic Farm

We have over 300 fruit trees and many vegetable plants on our property which provide plenty of ingredients for our restaurant. We also have several animals such as pigs and chickens to create a thriving eco-friendly farm.
